Sougahoagdee Falls, located in Houston, Alabama is a breathtaking hike that offers a little something for everyone. This waterfall hike is on the eastern side of the Bankhead National Forest. Sougahoagdee, sometimes called “Scooby Doo Falls,” boasts one of Alabama’s most beautiful waterfalls. Following alongside Brushy Creek, this trail has it all; a rushing creek, trickling brooks, beautiful trees, a variety of mushrooms and plants, amazing songbirds, stunning rock formations and breathtaking waterfalls.
One steep incline and a few rocky climbs makes this 4 mile out-and-back a moderate, but family friendly hike. Care should be taken to watch for wildlife, roots in the trail, mossy rocks and swift waters.

“Magical,” “Spectacular,” “Otherwordly,” “Perfect,” and “Stunning,” are just a few words you’ll likely utter while making your way to and from the picturesque waterfall, which we’ve witnessed both in a slow drip and a rushing roar; both of which were impressive in beauty.
